Meet The Support Group Leader

Shannon Murphy, CVT, VTS (Cardiology)

Shannon Murphy has been working in veterinary medicine since 2009. In 2015, she became a Certified Pet Loss and Bereavement counselor through The Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB). In that time, she has hosted group pet loss counseling at various area hospitals. Certified counselors understand that for some people, pets aren't "like" family, they are family, and whether it is anticipating losing them due to incurable illness or truly experiencing their loss, group counseling helps to battle "disenfranchised grief", a grief not readily understood by others, and it reminds you that you do not have to go through this alone.
