Diagnostic Imaging

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital Mount Laurel’s diagnostic imaging department works alongside other specialists within our hospital in accurately diagnosing pet patient’s conditions using advanced imaging equipment.

Some common veterinary diagnostic imaging modalities and what they offer include:

X-rays

X-rays are a fast and quick tool we use to get a detailed picture of your pet’s internal structure. Digital X-rays are useful if we suspect:

  • Fractures

  • Lung disease

  • Bladder or kidney stones

  • Foreign body injection

  • Joint conditions

Ultrasound

An ultrasound can help examine the inner structure of your pet’s organs so we can discover, identify and assess blockages, tumors or other problems. We’ll perform an ultrasound to evaluate:

  • Gastrointestinal tract

  • Pancreas

  • Liver & gallbladder system

  • Tumors

  • Adrenal and thyroid glands

  • Musculoskeletal

  • Computed Tomography (CT Scan) - is used to help diagnose a rang of conditions including:

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

An MRI is used to view clean, detailed scans of your pets anatomy such as organs and the abdominal cavity. We use this method to diagnose:

  • Meningitis

  • Encephalitis

  • Identifying the cause of seizures

  • Muscle tears or strains

  • Diseases of the nervous system

Fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy is advanced imaging that allows us to view the inside of the pets body while it is in motion, in real-time. It is commonly used to diagnose problems such as:

  • Swallowing disorders

  • Collapsing trachea

  • Motility problems of the stomach or intestines

  • Blood flow through vessels
